“‘May Adonai, God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times as many as you are, and may He bless you just as He has promised you!


May Adonai increase you more and more —you and your children.


Then you will see and be radiant, and your heart will throb and swell with joy. For the abundance of the sea will be turned over to you. The wealth of nations will come to you.


A large population is a king’s glory, but lack of subjects is a prince’s ruin.


Chazak! And let us take courage for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God, and may Adonai do what is good in His eyes.”


Nevertheless, the king’s command to Joab and the army generals remained firm. So Joab and the army generals went out from the king’s presence to number the people of Israel.
