When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and spoke these words in the hearing of the people, all the people lifted up their voice and wept.


When he arrived, behold, Eli was sitting on his seat by the wayside watching, for his heart was trembling for the ark of God. When the man arrived to announce it in the town, the entire town cried out.


So the people came to Bethel and sat there till evening before God, and lifted up their voices and wept bitterly.


Now when the angel of Adonai spoke these words to all Bnei-Yisrael, the people lifted up their voice and wept.


When Moses related these things to all of Bnei-Yisrael, the people mourned bitterly.


All through that night, the entire community raised up their voices. The people wept.


While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and prostrating himself before the House of God, a very large assembly of Israelites—men, women and children—gathered around him. The people also wept very bitterly.


So when David and his men came to the town, behold, it was burned with fire—and their wives, their sons and their daughters had been taken captives.
