Even David’s two wives were taken captive—Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal’s widow.


So when David and his men came to the town, behold, it was burned with fire—and their wives, their sons and their daughters had been taken captives.


The man’s name was Nabal and his wife’s name was Abigail. The woman was intelligent and beautiful, but the man, a Calebite, was harsh and evil in his dealings.


So when Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.


David also brought up his men that were with him, each with his household, and they settled in the towns of Hebron.
