To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Adonai than sacrifice.


Better is dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife.


Better a meal of vegetables where there is love, than a fattened ox where there is hatred.

So the king sat on his seat—as usual, the seat by the wall—Jonathan stood up and Abner sat down by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty.
