Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts.


The Queen of the South will rise up at the Judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, something greater than Solomon is here.


But He said, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”


He who walks with wise men is wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.


The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of understanding.


But I didn’t believe the reports until I came and my eyes saw it. Indeed, not even the half was told to me. You’re way past the report of wisdom and prosperity that I’d heard!


Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure people.


As for me, look, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who come to us. But as for you, gather wine, summer fruit and oil, and put them in your jars, and dwell in your cities that you have taken over.”


Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, “How do you advise me to respond to these people?”
