48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock; and when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘He who believes will not be in haste.’


Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with rejoicing,


Trust in the Lord for ever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.


But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”


Therefore let every one who is godly offer prayer to thee; at a time of distress, in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him.


“For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?


When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is established for ever.


“The Lord lives; and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation,


So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the Lord drives.


Therefore, brethren, be the more zealous to confirm your call and election, for if you do this you will never fall;


strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.


I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”


But with an overflowing flood he will make a full end of his adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.


O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!


“For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of perdition assailed me;


“But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked; you waxed fat, you grew thick, you became sleek; then he forsook God who made him, and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation.


The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God,


He said, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer,


“There is none holy like the Lord, there is none besides thee; there is no rock like our God.


For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.


You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth.


Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:


But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
