whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.


Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he shows favor.


Likewise you that are younger be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”


Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.


For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he knows from afar.


A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.


The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.


And when he was in distress he entreated the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
