9 but when some were stubborn and disbelieved, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them, taking the disciples with him, and argued daily in the hall of Tyrannus.

About that time there arose no little stir concerning the Way.


and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.


But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and killed, reviling in matters of which they are ignorant, will be destroyed in the same destruction with them,


But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.


But these men revile whatever they do not understand, and by those things that they know by instinct as irrational animals do, they are destroyed.


And many will follow their licentiousness, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled.


But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.


and wrangling among men who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.


What then? Israel failed to obtain what it sought. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,


So then he has mercy upon whomever he wills, and he hardens the heart of whomever he wills.


I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women,


“You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.


preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching.


holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.


You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, and among them Phygelus and Hermogenes.


But we desire to hear from you what your views are; for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against.”


except this one thing which I cried out while standing among them, ‘With respect to the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you this day.’ ”


Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.


Paul wished to go in among the crowd, but the disciples would not let him;


And some of them were persuaded, and joined Paul and Silas; as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women.


and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church, and taught a large company of people; and in Antioch the disciples were for the first time called Christians.


“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and turn for me to heal them.”


At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me.


An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.


Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”


“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words.”


yet they did not listen to me, or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.


And he will become a sanctuary, and a stone of offense, and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.


Happy is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.


Harden not your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,


And thou didst warn them in order to turn them back to thy law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey thy commandments, but sinned against thy ordinances, by the observance of which a man shall live, and turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.


but they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words, and scoffing at his prophets, till the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, till there was no remedy.


Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord, and come to his sanctuary, which he has sanctified for ever, and serve the Lord your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.


But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God.


for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
