It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice:


Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.


Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live?


Behold, no fear of me need terrify you; my pressure will not be heavy upon you.


The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,


And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and lo, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.


When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.


for our God is a consuming fire.


And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.


And as they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.


But Elijah answered the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.


Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.


“Therefore take good heed to yourselves. Since you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
