While Israel dwelt in Shittim the people began to play the harlot with the daughters of Moab.


So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel;


and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows the place of his burial to this day.
