All the people were amazed. They said to each other, “How is he able to speak like that? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits, and they come out!”


All the people were amazed and asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with such authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits, and they obey him.”


Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Right away the disease left him.


So Jesus went with them. When Jesus came near the house, the Roman commander sent some of his friends to him. He told them to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself. I’m not good enough to have you come into my house.


I myself am under authority, and I have soldiers who obey my orders. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
