23 Jesus responded, “You’ll certainly apply this saying to me: ‘Doctor, heal yourself!’ And by that you’ll mean, ‘We want you to do here in your hometown the things we’ve heard you did in Capernaum.’ ”

Jesus left there and went to his hometown of Nazareth. His disciples came with him.


Though he had grown up in Nazareth, he went to live in the city of Capernaum. That was by the lake, in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.


So from now on we don’t look at anyone from the world’s point of view. Once we even looked at Christ that way, but we don’t anymore.


The woman left her water jar and went back to the town. She told the people,


While there is a log in your own eye, how can you say to your friend, ‘Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye’? Hypocrite! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye, and then you’ll be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye.


Jesus went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. On the Sabbath day he went as usual to the synagogue and stood up to read.


He came to his hometown of Nazareth and began teaching the people in their synagogue. They were amazed and they asked, “Where did this man get so much wisdom? Where did he get the power to do miracles?


Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every illness and sickness that the people had.


Joseph and Mary did everything that the Law of the Lord required, and then they returned to their own town of Nazareth in Galilee.


Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother kept all these things like a secret treasure in her heart.


Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and there he taught the people on the Sabbath day.


“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of everybody, but it came out without hurting him.
