In the fifteenth year that Tiberius Caesar ruled—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod was the ruler of Galilee, his brother Philip was the ruler of Iturea and Traconitis, Lysanias was ruler of Abilene—


The king stood up, and so the governor and Bernice and those sitting with them stood up too.

But when Gallio became the governor of Achaia, the Jews of Corinth got together to oppose Paul. They brought him into court


He worked for the governor, Sergius Paulus. But the governor was an intelligent man, and he sent for Barnabas and Saul because wanted to hear God’s word.


After that, Judas from Galilee came along, in the days when the Romans made everyone register to pay taxes. Judas started a revolt, but he too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.


News about him spread all over Syria, and they brought him everyone who was ill with any kind of sicknesses. Some were suffering great pain, while others were controlled by demons. Some were shaking wildly, and others couldn’t move at all. Jesus healed every one of them.


Around this time Caesar Augustus made a law that required everyone in the whole Roman world to register for taxation and military service.


Everyone had to go to their own hometown to register.
