22 When he did come out, he couldn’t speak to them. But eventually they understood that he’d seen a vision in the temple because he explained this to them in gestures, even though he didn’t get his voice back.

Then they motioned to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.


The commander told him he could, so Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. When they quieted down, he began to speak to them in the Hebrew language.


The Jews in the crowd pushed Alexander to the front. He got the people to quiet down by waving his hands. He was about to present his side of things,


Peter motioned with his hands for them to be quiet. Then he explained how the Lord had freed him from prison. “Tell James and the other brothers and sisters about this,” he said, and then he went to a different place.


Simon Peter motioned to that disciple and said to him, “Ask Jesus which one he means.”


While all this was happening, the people were waiting for Zechariah to come out of the temple. They were wondering why he was staying in there for so long.


When his time of service was over, he returned home.
