They fired have thy sanctuary, and have defil'd the same, By casting down unto the ground the place where dwelt thy name.


For th' en'my hath pursu'd my soul, my life to ground down tread: In darkness he hath made me dwell, as who have long been dead.


I said, when I was in my haste, that all men liars be.


His glory thou hast made to cease, his throne to ground down cast;


Then did I say, That surely this is mine infirmity: I'll mind the years of the right hand of him that is most High.


Thou mak'st us from the enemy, faint-hearted, to turn back; And they who hate us for themselves our spoils away do take.


Unto thy people thou hard things hast shew'd, and on them sent; And thou hast caused us to drink wine of astonishment.
