When I had uttered this word, (my foot doth slip away,) Thy mercy held me up, O Lord, thy goodness did me stay.


For my distressed soul from death deliver'd was by thee: Thou didst my mourning eyes from tears, my feet from falling, free.


For I said, Hear me, lest they should rejoice o'er me with pride; And o'er me magnify themselves, when as my foot doth slide.


Hold up my goings, Lord, me guide in those thy paths divine, So that my footsteps may not slide out of those ways of thine.


But as for me, I thine own face in righteousness will see; And with thy likeness, when I wake, I satisfy'd shall be.


But I into thy house will come in thine abundant grace; And I will worship in thy fear toward thy holy place.


But as for me, when they were sick, in sackcloth sad I mourn'd: My humbled soul did fast, my pray'r into my bosom turn'd.
