Rise, Lord, cast us not ever off; awake, why dost thou sleep?


Stir up thyself; wake, that thou may'st judgment to me afford, Ev'n to my cause, O thou that art my only God and Lord.


Arise, O Lord; save me, my God; for thou my foes hast stroke All on the cheek-bone, and the teeth of wicked men hast broke.


Though I in midst of trouble walk, I life from thee shall have: 'Gainst my foes' wrath thou'lt stretch thine hand; thy right hand shall me save.


Rise for our help, and us redeem, ev'n for thy mercies' sake.


God righteous judgment executes for all oppressed ones.


But then the Lord arose, as one that doth from sleep awake; And like a giant that, by wine refresh'd, a shout doth make:


To these long desolations thy feet lift, do not tarry; For all the ills thy foes have done within thy sanctuary.


Ev'n like unto a dream, when one from sleeping doth arise; So thou, O Lord, when thou awak'st, their image shalt despise.


Awake therefore, Lord God of hosts, thou God of Israel, To visit heathen all: spare none that wickedly rebel.


Plead, Lord, with those that plead; and fight with those that fight with me.


For poor oppress'd, and for the sighs of needy, rise will I, Saith God, and him in safety set from such as him defy.


For th' en'my hath pursu'd my soul, my life to ground down tread: In darkness he hath made me dwell, as who have long been dead.
