One thing I of the Lord desir'd, and will seek to obtain, That all days of my life I may within God's house remain; That I the beauty of the Lord behold may and admire, And that I in his holy place may rev'rently enquire.


The Lord Almighty, and his strength, with stedfast hearts seek ye: His blessed and his gracious face seek ye continually.


Great honour is before his face, and majesty divine; Strength is within his holy place, and there doth beauty shine.


They shall thy kingdom's glory show, thy pow'r by speech express:


Your hands within God's holy place lift up, and praise his name.


And he his strength delivered into captivity; He left his glory in the hand of his proud enemy.


Thy goings they have seen, O God; the steps of majesty Of my God, and my mighty King, within the sanctuary.


For thou art not a God that doth in wickedness delight; Neither shall evil dwell with thee,


My tears have unto me been meat, both in the night and day, While unto me continually, Where is thy God? they say.


Then will I to God's altar go, to God my chiefest joy: Yea, God, my God, thy name to praise my harp I will employ.
