I sent the hornet ahead of you, which drove out before you the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow.


In days to come Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots, and fill the whole world with fruit.


You plant them, and they take root; they grow and bring forth fruit; you are near in their mouths yet far from their hearts.


The surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward;


He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the wealth of the peoples,


Joab gave the total count of the people to David. In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who drew the sword, and in Judah four hundred seventy thousand who drew the sword.

He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; he expected it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.


On that day: A pleasant vineyard, sing about it!


Yet I planted you as a choice vine, from the purest stock. How then did you turn degenerate and become a wild vine?
