He shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall make sacrifice and offering cease; and in their place shall be an abomination that desolates, until the decreed end is poured out upon the desolator.”


From the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that desolates is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred ninety days.


“But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains;


“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.


Forces sent by him shall occupy and profane the temple and fortress. They shall abolish the regular burnt offering and set up the abomination that makes desolate.


Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of the prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and who keep what is written in it; for the time is near.


Indeed, the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up ramparts around you and surround you, and hem you in on every side.


At the beginning of your supplications a word went out, and I have come to declare it, for you are greatly beloved. So consider the word and understand the vision:


Know therefore and understand: from the time that the word went out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the time of an anointed prince, there shall be seven weeks; and for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with streets and moat, but in a troubled time.


Therefore we must pay greater attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.


They set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops saying things against this holy place and the law;


Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.”


shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against our people, our law, and this place; more than that, he has actually brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”


The man said to me, “Mortal, look closely and listen attentively, and set your mind upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you; declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”


If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation.”


This shall be the sign to you, says the Lord, that I am going to punish you in this place, in order that you may know that my words against you will surely be carried out:


Among them were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, from the tribe of Judah.


then those in Judea must flee to the mountains;
