Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh's heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go.


But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and would not let the people go.


So then he has mercy on whomever he chooses, and he hardens the heart of whomever he chooses.


But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he acted proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his glory was stripped from him.

Still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.


Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw it in the air in the sight of Pharaoh.


I know, however, that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand.
