so that no inheritance of the Israelites shall be transferred from one tribe to another; for all Israelites shall retain the inheritance of their ancestral tribes.


The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants.


The prince shall not take any of the inheritance of the people, thrusting them out of their holding; he shall give his sons their inheritance out of his own holding, so that none of my people shall be dispossessed of their holding.


What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!


May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.


Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!


Did what is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.


What then should we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”


By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it?


Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.


By no means! For then how could God judge the world?


By no means! Although everyone is a liar, let God be proved true, as it is written, “So that you may be justified in your words, and prevail in your judging.”


Far be it from me to say that you are right; until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.


and said, “My God forbid that I should do this. Can I drink the blood of these men? For at the risk of their lives they brought it.” Therefore he would not drink it. The three warriors did these things.


He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to raise my hand against him; for he is the Lord's anointed.”


Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; and I will instruct you in the good and the right way.


Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods;


Far be it from us that we should rebel against the Lord, and turn away this day from following the Lord by building an altar for burnt offering, grain offering, or sacrifice, other than the altar of the Lord our God that stands before his tabernacle!”


But he said, “Far be it from me that I should do so! Only the one in whose possession the cup was found shall be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”


They said to him, “Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing!


No inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another; for each of the tribes of the Israelites shall retain its own inheritance.’ ”
