He took the calf that they had made, burned it with fire, ground it to powder, scattered it on the water, and made the Israelites drink it.


and have hurled their gods into the fire, though they were no gods but the work of human hands—wood and stone—and so they were destroyed.


The images of their gods you shall burn with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them and take it for yourself, because you could be ensnared by it; for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.


But this is how you must deal with them: break down their altars, smash their pillars, hew down their sacred poles, and burn their idols with fire.


For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord.


The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them away.


So he went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, “God has burst out against my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood.” Therefore that place is called Baal-perazim.


Once again the Philistines made a raid in the valley.


They brought out the pillar that was in the temple of Baal, and burned it.
