Then those who were mentioned by name got up and took the captives, and with the spoil they clothed all who were naked among them; they clothed them, gave them sandals, provided them with food and drink, and anointed them; and carrying all the feeble among them on donkeys, they brought them to their kindred at Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then they returned to Samaria.


For you have exacted pledges from your family for no reason and stripped the naked of their clothing.


They thrust the needy off the road; the poor of the earth all hide themselves.


The blessing of the wretched came upon me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them and not to hide yourself from your own kin?


I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’


I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’


In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.”


So Peter got up and went with them, and when he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was with them.


and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that?


Little children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.
