Let deacons be married only once, and let them manage their children and their households well;


There are also many rebellious people, idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision;


Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,


They shall not marry a widow, or a divorced woman, but only a virgin of the stock of the house of Israel, or a widow who is the widow of a priest.


They shall not marry a prostitute or a woman who has been defiled; neither shall they marry a woman divorced from her husband. For they are holy to their God,


And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.


In the days of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly order of Abijah. His wife was a descendant of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.


Those who keep the law are wise children, but companions of gluttons shame their parents.


Now Eli was very old. He heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

Did not one God make her? Both flesh and spirit are his. And what does the one God desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth.


This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers,
