“How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?


The more they increased, the more they sinned against me; they changed their glory into shame.


But you, O Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.


Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for something that does not profit.


They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass.


You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.


So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.


Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.


and do not turn aside after useless things that cannot profit or save, for they are useless.


Those who worship vain idols forsake their true loyalty.


They bend their tongues like bows; they have grown strong in the land for falsehood, and not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me, says the Lord.


No one brings suit justly, no one goes to law honestly; they rely on empty pleas, they speak lies, conceiving mischief and begetting iniquity.


But Israel is saved by the Lord with everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or confounded to all eternity.


And they shall be dismayed and confounded because of Ethiopia their hope and of Egypt their boast.


But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped.


The wicked go astray from the womb; they err from their birth, speaking lies.


Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods? Do you judge people fairly?


I lie down among lions that greedily devour human prey; their teeth are spears and arrows, their tongues sharp swords.


You hate those who pay regard to worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord.


You would confound the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.


Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain?


This is an evil in all that happens under the sun, that the same fate comes to everyone. Moreover, the hearts of all are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.


May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.


And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? And how long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?


So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.


in order that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”


Thus says the Lord: What wrong did your ancestors find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthless things, and became worthless themselves?


Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


The Jews also joined in the charge by asserting that all this was true.
