For you deliver a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.


who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors;


There are those—how lofty are their eyes, how high their eyelids lift!


You sit and speak against your kin; you slander your own mother's child.


Likewise, tell the older women to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good,


But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one.


I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth, and his ways are justice; and he is able to bring low those who walk in pride.


A gossip reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a babbler.


In you are those who slander to shed blood, those in you who eat upon the mountains, who commit lewdness in your midst.


The haughty eyes of people shall be brought low, and the pride of everyone shall be humbled; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.


The north wind produces rain, and a backbiting tongue, angry looks.


Lying lips conceal hatred, and whoever utters slander is a fool.


For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he perceives from far away.


Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.


You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not profit by the blood of your neighbor: I am the Lord.


You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with the wicked to act as a malicious witness.


You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.


Women likewise must be serious, not slanderers, but temperate, faithful in all things.


Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the lamp of the wicked—are sin.
