is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words. From these come envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions,


I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”


By insolence the heedless make strife, but wisdom is with those who take advice.


But now you must get rid of all such things—anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth.


For I fear that when I come, I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish; I fear that there may perhaps be quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.


for you are still of the flesh. For as long as there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving according to human inclinations?


For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.


let us live honorably as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.


while for those who are self-seeking and who obey not the truth but wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.


As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.


Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
