Then they journeyed through the wilderness, went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, arrived on the east side of the land of Moab, and camped on the other side of the Arnon. They did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the boundary of Moab.


When Balak heard that Balaam had come, he went out to meet him at Ir-moab, on the boundary formed by the Arnon, at the farthest point of the boundary.


Moab is put to shame, for it is broken down; wail and cry! Tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.


Like fluttering birds, like scattered nestlings, so are the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon.
