He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son,


for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.


As he stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs.


Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”


She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying.


Samuel did what the Lord commanded, and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling, and said, “Do you come peaceably?”


There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the company of the righteous.


Will not his majesty terrify you, and the dread of him fall upon you?


Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God burst out against us, because we did not give it proper care.”


As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.


Those who had seen what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine reported it.


for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him.


Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his property, without first tying up the strong man? Then indeed the house can be plundered.


So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he cured them.


And when the demon had been cast out, the one who had been mute spoke; and the crowds were amazed and said, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel.”


David was afraid of God that day; he said, “How can I bring the ark of God into my care?”


Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?


The swineherds ran off and told it in the city and in the country. Then people came to see what it was that had happened.
