and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you; and grant them compassion in the sight of their captors, so that they may have compassion on them


When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”


Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent; do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away.

The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?”


The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.)


When she opened it, she saw the child. He was crying, and she took pity on him, “This must be one of the Hebrews' children,” she said.


So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.


He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
