The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”


For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”


You do well if you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”


Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”


Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”


Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.


But now you must get rid of all such things—anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth.


Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice,


Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will help you.


Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander.


For we know the one who said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.”


Then someone came to him and said, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”


for it is God's servant for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid, for the authority does not bear the sword in vain! It is the servant of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer.


Then Absalom commanded his servants, “Watch when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then kill him. Do not be afraid; have I not myself commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”
