Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “no idol in the world really exists,” and that “there is no God but one.”


Those who make them are like them; so are all who trust in them.


No, they are all a delusion; their works are nothing; their images are empty wind.


They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction given by idols is no better than wood!


and on her forehead was written a name, a mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of whores and of earth's abominations.”


Everyone is stupid and without knowledge; goldsmiths are all put to shame by their idols; for their images are false, and there is no breath in them.


And they shall go out and look at the dead bodies of the people who have rebelled against me; for their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.


and have hurled their gods into the fire, though they were no gods, but the work of human hands—wood and stone—and so they were destroyed.


“Cursed be anyone who makes an idol or casts an image, anything abhorrent to the Lord, the work of an artisan, and sets it up in secret.” All the people shall respond, saying, “Amen!”


Do not bring an abhorrent thing into your house, or you will be set apart for destruction like it. You must utterly detest and abhor it, for it is set apart for destruction.


for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.


When one will not listen to the law, even one's prayers are an abomination.


Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, and they cannot speak; they have to be carried, for they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, nor is it in them to do good.


They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.


The images of their gods you shall burn with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them and take it for yourself, because you could be ensnared by it; for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.
