9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them.

We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.


Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on those who are disobedient.


Those who observe the day, observe it in honor of the Lord. Also those who eat, eat in honor of the Lord, since they give thanks to God; while those who abstain, abstain in honor of the Lord and give thanks to God.


Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.


Some even from your own group will come distorting the truth in order to entice the disciples to follow them.


These are blemishes on your love-feasts, while they feast with you without fear, feeding themselves. They are waterless clouds carried along by the winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;


Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;


Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvation we share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.


comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.


For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.


Jesus answered them, “Beware that no one leads you astray.


I am saying this so that no one may deceive you with plausible arguments.


But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us,


“Food will not bring us close to God.” We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.


For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.


Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables.


And now I commend you to God and to the message of his grace, a message that is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all who are sanctified.


not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as though from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.


“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food,” and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.


My friends, if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. Take care that you yourselves are not tempted.


Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.


But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.
