The Lord God has sworn by his holiness: The time is surely coming upon you, when they shall take you away with hooks, even the last of you with fishhooks.


The Lord of hosts has sworn by himself: Surely I will fill you with troops like a swarm of locusts, and they shall raise a shout of victory over you.


The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.


He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah


Therefore thus says the Lord God: An adversary shall surround the land, and strip you of your defense; and your strongholds shall be plundered.

The Lord has become like an enemy; he has destroyed Israel; He has destroyed all its palaces, laid in ruins its strongholds, and multiplied in daughter Judah mourning and lamentation.


When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.


“If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and all that is in it is mine.


The Lord saw it, and was jealous he spurned his sons and daughters.


I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars; I will heap your carcasses on the carcasses of your idols. I will abhor you.


I will place my dwelling in your midst, and I shall not abhor you.

I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.

The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.


Ah, the proud garland of the drunkards of Ephraim, and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of those bloated with rich food, of those overcome with wine!
