Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.


Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he the child I delight in? As often as I speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore I am deeply moved for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the Lord.


How does God's love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?


With that, Joseph hurried out, because he was overcome with affection for his brother, and he was about to weep. So he went into a private room and wept there.


How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.


If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy,


For God is my witness, how I long for all of you with the compassion of Christ Jesus.

my heart became hot within me. While I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue:


The king said, “Divide the living boy in two; then give half to the one, and half to the other.”


Then the king responded: “Give the first woman the living boy; do not kill him. She is his mother.”
