I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.


Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.


Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.


Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.


They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.


if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:


If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;


In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.


I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;


Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Be´li-al, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.


For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
