thus saith the Lord, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?


Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:


They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.


but now, in Christ Jesus, ye who sometime were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.


Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;


Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.


Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.


The stout-hearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.


Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:


Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.


Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.


Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.


Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.


And all the people shall know, even E´phra-im and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,


And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.


But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.


For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.


Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.


Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.


Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,


Why dost thou show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
