Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.


Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.


I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.


Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.


who will render to every man according to his deeds:


For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.


They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the Lord accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.


And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.


And I will visit upon her the days of Ba´alim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the Lord.


A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations: he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.


According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompense.


And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.


Wherefore it shall come to pass, that, when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.


Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.


They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gib´e-ah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.


And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.


All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.


Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:


And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshe´a: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.


Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?


Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.


As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labor, which he may carry away in his hand.


The burden of the beasts of the south. Into the land of trouble and anguish from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.


When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of E´phra-im was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.


E´phra-im also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.


For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: E´phra-im hath hired lovers.


Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
