according to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.


This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Si´nai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:


Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.


And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.


(I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to show you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount,) saying,


And Jacob called the name of the place Peni´el: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.


and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:


And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
