And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans:


And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:


For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.


And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came showed or spake any harm of thee.


Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedeki´ah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?


Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.


who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.


And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.


My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.


for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.


But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
