Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.


But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.


Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?


Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.


Then came Eli´akim the son of Hilki´ah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Jo´ah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezeki´ah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab–sha´keh.


And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? Wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.


And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephun´neh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:


Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
