So David would not remove the ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of O´bed–e´dom the Gittite.


And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahin´o-am the Jez´reelitess, and Ab´igail the Car´melitess, Nabal's wife.


Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Kei´lah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Kei´lah; and he forbare to go forth.


And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.


And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amal´ekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;


So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.


And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.


And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
