Joshua 7:1 - King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

1 And the sons of Israel sinned a sin in the devoted things. And Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah took of the devoted things. And the anger of Jehovah glowed against the sons of Israel.

Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a sin in the devoted thing, and was there not wrath on all the company of Israel? And he was not the only one to die in his iniquity.


Wisdom is better than weapons of conflict; but one sinner destroys much good.


And it was evil in the eyes of God as to this thing, and He struck Israel.


that you turn away today from following after Jehovah? And it shall be that today you rebel against Jehovah, and tomorrow He shall be angry with all the company of Israel.


So says all the company of Jehovah, What is this unfaithful act with which this unfaithfulness to the God of Israel is done, to turn back today from after Jehovah, in that you built for yourself an altar so that you might rebel today against Jehovah?


And they said, each man to his companion, Come and let us make fall lots, that we may know on whose account this evil happened to us. And they made fall the lot, and the lot fell on Jonah.


And I said, O my God, I am ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, O my God. For our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown to the heavens.


And they forsook the house of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherahs and the idols; and there was wrath on Judah and Jerusalem because of this guilt.


And again the anger of Jehovah burned against Israel, and moved David against them, to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.


O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us the shame of our faces, as it is this day to the men of Judah, and to those living in Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are afar through all the lands where You have driven them for their unfaithfulness which they have done against You.


And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar, and to Ithamar, his sons, You shall not uncover your heads and you shall not tear your garments, that you may not die, and He be angry on all the congregation. As to your brothers, the whole house of Israel, they shall mourn the burning which Jehovah has kindled.


And he came into the hill, and took out of their hand, and put away in the house, and sent away the men, and they went.


The sons of Jacob came on the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.


Your wickedness is for a man like yourself; and your righteousness may profit a son of man.
