And some went and told David about the men; and he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly humiliated. And the king said, Remain in Jericho until your beard has grown, and return.


In his days Hiel the man of Beth-el built Jericho; he laid its foundation in his first-born Abiram, and he set up its doors in Segub his youngest, according to the Word of Jehovah that He spoke by the hand of Joshua the son of Nun.

And Jericho was closed, and was shut in from the face of the sons of Israel; no one going out, and no one coming in.
