But the angel of the LORD said to Eliyahu the Tishbi, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Shomron, and tell them, Is it because there is no God in Yisra'el, that you go to inquire of Ba`al-Zevuv, the god of `Ekron?


It happened after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Eliyahu, in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself to Ach'av; and I will send rain on the earth.


Behold, there came a man of God out of Yehudah by the word of the LORD to Beit-El: and Yarov`am was standing by the altar to burn incense.


For we must needs die, and are as water split on the ground, which can't be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.


Then David said to the messenger, Thus shall you tell Yo'av, Don't let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another; make your battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage you him.


According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Natan speak to David.


The rich man had very many flocks and herds,


But Tzadok the Kohen, and Benayah the son of Yehoiada, and Natan the prophet, and Shim`i, and Re`i, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adoniyahu.


Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Shemu'el the seer, and in the history of Natan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer,


Then Yeshaiyahu the prophet came to king Chizkiyahu, and asked him, *What did these men say? Where did they come from to you?* Chizkiyahu said, *They have come from a country far from me, even from Bavel.*


and `Azaryah the son of Natan was over the officers; and Zavud the son of Natan was chief minister, [and] the king's friend;


Arise, go down to meet Ach'av king of Yisra'el, who dwells in Shomron: behold, he is in the vineyard of Navot, where he is gone down to take possession of it.
