Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and you will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and you will persecute from city to city,


"And also the one receiving the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.'


Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,'


Now there were some in the church being in Antioch who were prophets and teachers: Both Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.


Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many words.


"And it shall be in the last days", says God, "that I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;"


Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.


For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, that you may be established--


For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself too highly, beyond what you should think, but to think soberly, as God has imparted to each one a measure of faith.


But now God has set the parts, each one of them, in the body just as He desired.


And though I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.


Pursue love, and desire the spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.


But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an unlearned person comes in, he is reproved by all, he is discerned by all.


Let two or three prophets speak, and let others discriminate.


Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord has given to each one?


For I wish that all men would be as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this way and another in that.


For if there is first a readiness, it is acceptable according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.


which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:


And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,


Therefore, as many as are mature, let us think this way; and if in anything you think otherwise, even this God will reveal to you.


knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture comes about from one's own interpretation,
