Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'


Then Jesus said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him alone you shall serve.' "


And Jesus answered and said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at Him.


And He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."


And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this Man perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King."


But Peter and John answered them and said, "Whether it is right before God to hear you rather than God, you judge.


But Peter and the apostles answered, and said: "We must obey God rather than men.


Render therefore to all their dues: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
