But if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the assembly. But if he refuses even to hear the assembly, let him be to you as a heathen and a tax collector.


For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?


And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"


Now it came about, as He was dining in Levi's house, that many tax collectors and sinners were dining together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him.


Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who is able to forgive sins except God alone?"


The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men--swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.


for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."


But when they saw it, they all were complaining, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a sinful man."


And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, "Why do You eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?"


And there came to be a great outcry, and the scribes of the Pharisees' party stood up and contended sharply, saying, "We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God."


But he that is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no man.


For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and discouraged in your souls.
