And seeking to kill him, a report went up to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem had been stirred up,


But when he arrived at the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd.


And when much dissension developed, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be torn apart by them, commanded the detachment of soldiers to go down and seize him from the midst of them, and to bring him into the barracks.


And having summoned two of the centurions he said, "Make ready two hundred soldiers, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, in order that they may go to Caesarea, to leave at the third hour of the night;


who also attempted to profane the temple, whom we also arrested,


And the Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.
